BIO

Dr. Schriner was born and raised in the Mid-South area. He went to college at the University of Memphis where he graduated from the electrical engineering program with a pre-medical option. He received his doctorate of medicine at the University of Tennessee Center for the Health Sciences. Internal medicine residency and fellowship in pulmonary / critical care was completed at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota. During his fellowship at Mayo, Dr. Schriner developed an interest in sleep with training under Dr. Peter Hauri and Dr. John Shepard.

Upon return to the Memphis area in 1992, Dr. Schriner joined the Memphis Lung Physician group. He continued to work part-time as an assistant to Dr. Helio Lemmi in the Baptist Sleep Disorders Center. During this time, Dr. Schiner became a diplomate of the American Board of Sleep Medicine. He also served on the clinical faculty of the University of Tennessee.

Dr. Schriner assumed the medical directorship of the Baptist Sleep Disorders Center in 1999. The main focus of the facility has been patient care with approximately 1,000 new patients per year. The laboratory has also been involved in clinical drug studies and a sponsor for local public forums and sleep-oriented groups.
